Cooper Cask learned that over the course of several years, having tried a number of varieties from all over the world. I remember, quite distinctly, being handed a cup of freshly brewed coffee, and then enjoying the time he took researching the tasting profile, origin, and the best ways to prepare and enjoy it. I was hooked, and ever since then, we’ve been enjoying great coffee. A purchase through links supports this site review. A Cooper is the name of the age old profession of building wooden casks, or barrels. There are many myths about coffee, like dark roasts will wake me up and light roasts are weak or how coffee is coffee, just add cream and sugar. But, it is more than just buying coffee beans online, much more.

Once a bean is roasted it has a relative short freshness period, usually a week. After which the flavors start to degrade and oxidize. Grinding coffee beans accelerates this process even faster. That is why Cooper Cask only roasts what is ordered and fresh. The roast date is on every package to show this. The coffee is not roasted in a massive plant where they are bagged and sitting in warehouses and retail shelves for many weeks or months. Why sacrifice a great cup of coffee for convenience? The K-cups have made it very convenient and this creates a huge sacrifice to quality. Just like you wouldn’t buy a loaf of bread that was sitting for weeks or let it sit in your cabinet or counter for weeks on end. Cooper Cask have taken this coffee to the next level, barrel aging. Just like wine, bourbon, rum and whiskey are barrel aged to complement the flavors, barrel aging the unroasted coffee beans in used barrels has enhance and intensify the natural flavor of the beans. With skillfully selected a beans the flavor notes and subtleties will best match and complement the flavors imparted by the aromas left behind in the empty barrels, for this reason I would choose the Bourbon, Whiskey & Rum Barrel Aged Coffee – Whole Bean – Box Set – 1lb Espresso from Cooper Cask every time.

Description

SKU:  4 Ounce (Pack of 4 – Whole Bean)UPC/ASIN: X001RS5TCJOver 250 Reviews of our barrel aged coffee box. 4, 4oz bags (16oz total) of our Barrel Aged Coffees. This makes a great gift or simply a great way to try all 4 barrel aged coffees.  Kentucky Bourbon Barrel (Colombian), Uprising Stout Whiskey (Sumatra), Battle Cry Rye Whiskey (Ethiopian) and Thomas Tew Rum (Rwanda). UPRISING STOUT WHISKEY BARREL AGED COFFEE Barrel Aged: Uprising (Sons of Liberty Whiskey): Stout style American whiskey Coffee Beans: Sumatra Lintong Tasting Notes:  Woody Earth, tobacco, tropical fruits, vanilla, caramel The Sumatra coffee bean is from the sub-region of Lintong and was chosen because of the complementary tasting notes of woody earth and mild sweet tobacco, with a hint of ripe tropical fruits.  When aged in whiskey barrels, the flavor and aroma of the bean is enhanced with the sweetness of vanilla and caramel from the whiskey.  When tasted, you get the enriched coffee experience with a very long whiskey finish.  Excellent as an espresso. BATTLE CRY RYE WHISKEY BARREL AGED COFFEE Barrel Aged: Battle Cry (Sons of Liberty Whiskey) Rye American whiskey Coffee Beans: Ethiopian Dry Processed Tasting Notes:  Bright and clean cup with a slight acidic spice, fruited notes of peach jam and strawberries, touch of sweetness of red raw honey and dutch chocolate This coffee uses the dry process by means of drying out the cherries under the sun on raised beds instead of the traditional wet processed (cherries stripped off after picking).  The dry process intensifies the flavor of the cherry directly into the coffee bean. The flavor profile has a very bright and clean cup with accents of peaches, strawberries, raw red honey, and a touch of dutch chocolate. The Battle Cry whiskey is distilled from a Belgium yeast style beer with grains of malted rye and honey malt.  The whiskey complements the coffee with bright spicy flavors and an intense floral nose that is slightly sweet.  Enjoy the intense aromas and the complex flavors of this barrel aged coffee! THOMAS TEW RUM BARREL AGED COFFEE Barrel Aged: Thomas Tew Rum Barrel from Newport, RI Coffee Beans:  Rwanda Single Origin Tasting Notes:  Caramelized sugar, red raisins, molasses, rich cocoa, baking spices, vanilla and oak The perfect pairing of the natural dark toffee and molasses of the coffee with the caramel sweetness and slight spiciness of the rum.  You will find this coffee to be incredibly smooth.  The aroma after a fresh grind gives way to an amazing caramelized sugar and all-spice with a hint of golden raisins.  The flavors in the brewed cup continues but deepens into a rich cocoa complexity with notes of spice, vanilla, and oak come into play.  An espresso shot intensifies the sweet toffee and spice with a rich cocoa and oak structure. BOURBON BARREL AGED COFFEE Barrel Aged: Kentucky Bourbon Barrels Coffee Beans:  Colombian Single Origin Tasting Notes: Vibrant taste profile of rustic sweetness, a hint of cocoa and dark fruit notes with a bourbon finish **Reviews are combined for the 3 bag & 4 bag box sets

Serving Suggestions

____________________________

  • I typically use 2 tbsp of whole bean per 6-8 oz of water, ground coarse. You may use more or less depending on how strong you like your coffee.
  • Put the coarsely ground beans into your french press.
  • Once your water is boiling take it off heat for about 30 seconds before pouring it into your french press.
  • Brew for 4 minutes (do not plunge until after 4 minutes).
  • After 4 minutes then plunge once and enjoy. Don't leave the coffee sitting in the french press too long or it may become bitter.

AUTO DRIP COFFEE MACHINE

  • Fill your coffee maker's reservoir with water.
  • Use 2 tbsp of beans per 6-8 oz of water, ground fine. You may use more or less depending on how strong you like your coffee. Coffee beans ground too coarse will create a very light coffee with less flavor.
  • Once the machine is done brewing try not to leave the coffee pot on the heater. This will ‘cook' the coffee and give it a burnt taste over time.
  • POUR AND ENJOY!

My Review of Bourbon, Whiskey & Rum Barrel Aged Coffee – Whole Bean – Box Set – 1lb Espresso

I had ordered from Amazon and it was not as good as advertised. By complaining, Cooper's delivered a new batch to me and a single origin coffee sampler. Wow what a difference in taste!. This is great fresh coffee. I would definitely order again but I would order directly from Coopers. I am staying away from Amazon for coffee since I have never received a fresh bag of coffee. A fantastic product that I would definitely order again! Really nice coffee. For bourbon lovers, it is a no brainer. This won't likely be for everyone, the concentrated flavor of the barrels these were aged in comes on strong and even a bit harsh or boozy. I loved it, my wife only enjoyed one of three and she's a bourbon drinker, so your mileage may vary. Get the flavor of choice you won't regret it and you'll crave it. Highly recommended!

American Wagyu Kobe Beef is sourced from the heart of the Northwest. The beef with its unforgettable taste is the result of their commitment to quality and caring every step of the ranch to table process. A purchase through links supports this site review. Packed with pride, their story is they are a family-owned company from the Northwest with over 50 years of experience in the beef industry. They take pride in doing what is right and keep an eye on the long haul and every step in between. Great pride in their animals, the environment, and their customers.

Snake River Farms, which is famous for its premium beef – 100% natural, grass-fed, and grain-finished American Wagyu. Pioneering Quality Beef

Wagyu and high-quality cattle were first bred in the late 1980s, and they knew this was something special in its deep flavor and sublime marbling. Snake River Farms and Double D Ranch have been mastering that prized combination ever since. It is more work that takes precision, genetic mastery, and a dedication to unending refinement and innovation. They control the entire supply chain, from the ranches where cattle are raised to the humane processing facility to the in-house customer care team. It would be easy to outsource but being a pioneer does not mean taking the easy way. It means doing work the right way.

Aging Beef

All Snake River Farms and Double D Ranch products are aged to maximize the flavor and texture of our beef. They employ two different methods:

Wet-Aging

A technique where subprimal cuts of beef are vacuum-sealed and allowed to rest in refrigeration for a minimum of 21 days. Natural enzymes tenderize the beef and allow deeper flavors to develop. The product is not exposed to the air, so there is no weight loss. Our products are all wet-aged 21 days or more before they are packaged and shipped.

Dry-Aging

A unique process where beef subprimal is placed in a carefully controlled environment in order to intensify their natural flavor and make them more tender. All products are dry-aged a minimum of 45 days which is the minimum amount of time to enhance the flavor.

How are the animals fed?

Snake River Farms American Wagyu Beef cattle are grass and hay fed on pasture for the first year of their life. They are then fed a sustainable diet of hay, forages, as well as potatoes, vitamins, and minerals. SRF cattle will never receive any growth agents or growth-promoting hormones.

My Review of Gold Grade Wagyu Brisket 9-12lb.

The product arrived well-packaged and completely frozen. Not a speck of silver skin or gristle. These are wonderful and will be a welcome meal when my son comes home from college for winter break. They can’t come home for Thanksgiving so I wanted to be sure there is something extra special for that 4-week break. The meat itself was tender and flavorful. A fantastic product that I would definitely order again! Get the pictured meat Gold Grade Wagyu Brisket 9-12lb. (Aff), or see all Snake River Farms American Wagyu Beef offerings Snake River Farms American Wagyu Beef. Really nice steaks. Tasty and tender. Some of them are a little odd-shaped but cook up great. I pan-fried them in butter to seal them and baked them for 5 minutes at 400 degrees. Perfect Medium rare and tender. Highly recommended. I ordered some ribeyes just based on the taste of the first order. Best steak I've ever had, well worth the price…and I qualify that by saying that the price restricts this to a rare-special-occasion-only purchase. I've paid good money at excellent steak houses (including wagyu steak) and this is by far the best. Thanks for a great meal!

Really nice, construction, built right & heavy like an espresso machine should be. Very easy to use & clean . Makes greats espressos, cappuccinos, tea, & hot water. Water reserve is a nice size. This machine should last me a long time and I have purchased from them several times in the past, but during this horrendous Covid-19 Virus Crisis I could not get out to purchase at any stores. Fortunately, purchasing on line is quick and easy and I ordered directly. Surprisingly, I was impressed with the customer service keeping me coming back for future purchases. Highly recommended.
