The Toraja Sulawesi Peaberry “White Eagle” Coffee is grown on some of the oldest Toraja trees, which are similar to the trees found in remote Ethiopia. Many of these date back to theoriginal farmers that began thecultivation processes on the island more than 250 years ago.These coffee trees are fully shaded by virgin jungle on the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia. The beans produced are rathersmall but have a unique flavor not found in any other coffee.The farming in these areas is remote, consists of countryroads, and is about4 days ride by horse fromthe mountains to the markets where the coffee is sold. The “WHITE EAGLE” variety is maintainedseparate from all other coffees as it is considered the the most valuableof all Toraja Arabica coffees. A limited number of 300-600 bags of this coffee are harvested every year making it a veryuniqueitem. Peaberry coffee beans are unique and have a much richer flavor. They are only found in 5% of the crop and are removed manually. The flavor of the peaberry is of a finer quality than the rest of the crop and is desired by coffee connoisseurs.
